For a couple of years I used this app religiously - it was the home for work notes, guitar tabs, personal journal, and even as a website hub for a community I'm part of. I loved styling my thoughts and notes uniquely, being able to share them easily, and keep things silo’d in different places.
Sadly the last year or so the interface and usability hasn’t been great. It has followed the trajectory of many other apps/websites in trying to leverage unnecessary AI stuff (I really didn’t want to use it), and tripping over itself when it comes to UX.
The sidebar navigation is a bit inconsistent (I swear it’s redesigned every 3 months), visual cues are often hidden too well, and things just don’t feel intuitive anymore. Maybe my eyes are getting old though.
You could tell at some point in the last year they decided to pivot the app from a personal tool to one catering to enterprise/business customers as well (eg. Excessive parts of the interface are about collaborating, with no opt out option).
Additionally, I had to cancel my (legacy) subscription due to personal financial reasons, and the recent (~50%) price hikes have meant that I can't afford to come back when things are better.
Funnily enough, it’s still the best note taking app I’ve used; perhaps if you’re a power user or part of a team all using it, you’d like it. Just doesn’t feel like its for an average jo like me anymore.
